JoAnn Smith
Troy Township Trustee

JoAnn first took over this position in Jan of 1996 serving for three years. She was elected for her first term Jan 1999- Dec 2002 and served again for her second term from Jan 2003 - Dec 2006.

JoAnn has been married to Mike Smith for 25 years and they have one daughter Samantha 15, a sophomore at TCHS. They reside in Lutgring Subdivision on Shiloh Road. JoAnn also works task force for Old National Bank. Her community involvement includes being a member of St Mark Catholic Church serving as a substitute lector and helping with the annual shooting match. She is an Associate member of St Paul Catholic Church where her daughter receives religious ed and she assists with religious where and when needed. She is Treasurer of the Perry County Service Unit for the Raintree Council, Co leader of her daughters Girl Scout troop, and belongs to several ladies clubs. JoAnn likes to read and spend time outdoors and with her family.

JoAnn’s trustee duties include managing the books for the office, budgeting and preparing annual reports to the State Board of Accounts, and any other monthly, quarterly and yearly reports, conducting advisory board meetings and keeping minutes. She also conducts School Board Appointments every 4 years, takes care of the trustee cemeteries, contracts with all the city fire departments, and takes care of any dog fund or fence dispute issues. JoAnn is a member of ITA and attends regional meetings, the Metro Conference, and annual SBA meeting. Poor relief consists of keeping hours 3 days a week for appointments with recipients, paying all vouchers to vendor, filling out and filing applications, investigating etc. Through the office, JoAnn works with many other local agencies assisting the needy and also with the United Way through the Holiday Helpers United Program.
